About the Journal
Quaderns de l’Institut Català d’Antropologia is an open-access publication edited in Barcelona by the Catalan Anthropological Institute (ICA).
It is a journal of communication and scientific debate addressed to social anthropologists. Its main goal is to create an agile and dynamic space of discussion around the topics of interest in contemporary anthropology. This journal publishes original research and submits all the article to a double blind peer review process, supervised by the Editorial Commitee.
The first issue of the "Quaderns de l'Institut Català d'Antropologia" appeared in 1980. Over the years, Quaderns have been an instrument of expression for two generations of Catalan anthropologists who have contributed to and entrusted their texts to the Institute, as well as authors from other national traditions, such as David Gilmore, Louis Assier-Andreu, Stanley Brandes, Julian Pitt-Rivers and James W. Fernandez, Norbert Elias, Claudia Fonseca, Claude Lévi-Strauss, to name but a few.
In 2019, a new phase of the journal began, with the publication of Quaderns in a paper format that was no longer edited, and the journal was published only in a digital version (OJS), but the name of Quaderns remained.
