Cancer and complementary and alternative medicines: some of examples of uses and therapeutic itineraries

Abstract

In this work we join the few studies conducted in Spain on the use of Complementary and Alter-native Medicines (CAM) from a qualitative perspective. Our approach starts in the micro-project "Understanding experience with Complementary Medicines in cancer patients" presented at the 12th International Meeting of Qualitative Health Research (November 2017). Here, we show an advance in the empirical evidence obtained in one of the selected cities –Valencia (Spain)-. From the experiences that oncology patients have told us, we have tried to reveal the therapeutic itineraries that have continued to complement the use of allopathic medicine with CAMs, as well as the degree of satisfaction that they manifest.
