Abstract

The article is based on a critical analysis of a research carried out within the framework of the agreement between the Dipartimento di studi politici e sociali of the University of Salerno and the Associazione senegalesi di Salerno. The main aim of this text is to question the consolidated relations between the knowledge produced through academic research and other social knowledge.
The article has two specific objectives. The first one is to present the co-research that has been carried out between an aca#demic researcher and the representatives of the Senegalese Association in Salerno, high#lighting both its strengths and weakness#es. The second objective is to understand whether the knowledge produced through this kind of participatory research can pro#duce cuts in the consolidated ways of pro#ducing social knowledge in the context of the current university.
